My favorite and most successful piece I made this year was for our "Essential Questions" project. I made three hands each with a different skin tone and each with different styles of tattoos. I had a clear vision for this project since the beginning and the final project really matched what I had in my head. I'm also very proud of how it turned out because that was my first time working with water colors. I've always been pretty good at drawing hands which I why I wanted to do the project in the first place. I'm also obsessed with different styles of tattoos so I wanted to portray that through this art project. I think this is my most successful art project because it clearly matched the vision in my head and working with water colors brought me out of my comfort zone.
My least successful piece was for our teens inspired project. I never finished the project, but I'm not happy with how it was looking when I stopped. I had a clear vision in my head for what I wanted it to look like and I just couldn't get it out onto the canvas. This was my first time working with acrylic paint on canvas and it didn't go as expected. I couldn't get the girl looking as realistic as I wanted or even close to the the museum's piece I was basing it off of. To make this piece more successful I would've maybe picked a different medium or a different subject. I wanted to try something I hadn't done before, but that plan seemed to backfire on me. To be more successful on other projects like this I would've asked for more help when painting to achieve the look I really wanted.
Overall I think this art class has helped me grow my skill as an artist. This class has helped me hone in on my art ability and show me what I can and can't do. It's shown me what I really like about art and what I don't like as much. Now I know how I specifically plan for pieces that I want to create. This class has definitely helped me improve my art skills even if it did have its fair share of ups and downs. Taking the trip to the art museum helped me appreciate art a little more. Even if I don't plan on taking anymore art classes I will definitely continue to draw in my free time.
